Links with Literacy With increasing evidence that high quality language teaching has a positive effect on pupils' literacy development, this course will provide delegates with an opportunity to explore these strong links in more depth. The day will demonstrate how language learning supports generic literacy skills and gives pupils invaluable opportunities to revisit and consolidate skills learned in the first language.

7: Using a Scheme of Work (e.g. Rigolo, Early Start etc.) to teach effectively and creatively (Cancelled)
MFL practitioners often use the chosen scheme of work to deliver selected topics and the issue of progression is not addressed. The most popular schemes of work available on the market were written prior to the current Programme of Study and teachers often do not understand how to use the scheme of work effectively to cater for progression and respond to the requirements of the Programme of Study.
8: Supporting Subject Leaders in Effective Long Term Planning (with the Rigolo or any other Scheme of work) (Cancelled)
The KS2 Rigolo French Scheme of work is used by many primary schools in Suffolk and provides teachers particularly non-specialists, with an excellent framework of support. This course aims to provide subject leaders with guidance on how to adapt the scheme to ensure that it meets the 'substantial progression@ required by the Programme of Study over the four years of language learning in KS2.
