Event Description |
Annual Update - 3 IN 1 MEDICAL CONDITIONS - Epilepsy & Asthma & Anaphylaxis Presentation The school nursing service offers free awareness training for all school staff. The training will offer comprehensive awareness in all three subjects and how these can be managed within the school setting. School staff will be given the opportunity to discuss any concerns they may have around their individual school or individual cases in a safe and confidential environment. Statutory guidance ‘Supporting pupils at school with medical conditions’ (Department for Education, 2015) requires governing bodies of schools to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place to support pupils’ needs which includes how staff will receive training if needed. |

Training Objectives | • Improved & updated knowledge in managing severe allergies, including early recognition of symptoms, allergen avoidance & crisis management • Enhanced skills in the use of adrenaline auto injectors • Understand what asthma is, signs & symptoms, triggers that can affect asthma & how to manage asthma in school day to day • How to respond to an asthma attack • Understand what epilepsy is, to be able to offer support to pupils with epilepsy & how to respond to a child having a seizure in school • Know how to use emergency medication for a child having a seizure |
