This programme provides an opportunity for staff to complete an individualised risk assessment, focusing on specific children within the school who may have potentially difficult or dangerous behaviour. After completion of the risk assessment, the trainer works with staff to complete a behaviour support plan, identifying early intervention strategies to support the individual needs of the child, de-escalate the situation and reduce the need for restrictive interventions. The documentation provides an audit trail of good practise and helps to support a consistent approach to behaviour management within the school. This is a 2 hour programme which can be delivered to either a group of staff, focusing around a child within the school, or to the senior management team who can then cascade the information to other staff within the school. This programme is a pre-requisite to any physical de-escalation training.
